Struck In the neck by a primary 
'wire carrying 2300 volia or electricity

to revive him by means of artificial 
respiration. 

At 1 o'clock they garc up the strug¬ 
gle and admitted that the electric 
current hod accompliehod itn work and 
that their efforts would he of no avail 
Wire Snaps In Wind- 
The wire which caused the young 
man's death snapped in the high wind 
which followed tho (early-morning 
atorm yesterday and It hit Pippin as 
ho was at work a hoveling gravel Into 
a city truck. 

In tta fall the Insulated part of the 
deadly wire hit another laborer in the 
arm and ho Crushed It aside, the end 
Jabbing Pippin In the neck, said by 
doctors to he the moet vulnerable spot 
which could have been chosen. 

Thrown Against Car. 

Pippin, who was standing on the 
ground near the front of the truck 
was thrown against the machine 
whence be pan k* to the earth. Gagging 
and frothing ar the mouth the man 
was ranked to the sidewalk and Dr*. 
P- E, Quigley and B> 0, Powers and 
Health Officer George Runted t were 
summoned. 

They pronounced' the young man 
dead but In spite of this first aid ex¬ 
perts employed by the Rutland Railway 
Light * Power company and the New 
England Telephone & Telegraph com¬ 
pany worked In relays in attempt# to 
restore the man to conscious neat by 
use of the prone pressure methods of 
rosus citation. 

Frequently It has been do mo naira ted 
that persona similarly- electrocuted 
have been revived after they have 
been pronounced dead and the work¬ 
ers determined to spare no effort# to 
bring the man back to life If possible. 

Takas Wire Off Truck, - 

After the wire hit Pippin it flew 
onto the truck, burning a hole therein. 
The foreman of the gang of workmen 
took a rubber coat and wrapped It 
around the wire to remora It from the 
track. 

Young Pippin, who had been in the 
employ of the city for Uo years* U 
survived by hi* mother, Mrs, J, P 
Pippin: two ^brother*. Anthony and 
John Pippin; and five slaters. Cll^ 
mating, Blanche, Ellaaheth. V«ma 
and Adeline. The funeral win be held 
at Holy Innocents church tomorrow 
morning at e o'clock with burial la 
Calvary cemetery.
